Sign Scrubs for Health Care Reform
Members across the country sending personal messages to Congress
Over the past month, members of Congress returned home to hear the voices of our members, their constituents, through town hall meetings. They've heard stories from health care workers about the urgent need for real health care reform. But there are some who continue to distort the truth and spread fear about health care reform. It's up to us to speak out for our patients and our profession and share the facts about our broken health care system.
That's why SEIU members, as part of the Partnership for Quality Care, have launched the Every Patient Matters campaign. Health care workers across the country are signing tens of thousands of surgical scrub tops with personal messages urging Congress to act now on health care reform.
Locals around the country have used the scrubs in many different ways
to create a powerful message about health care reform. Some have asked
members to wear them to town hall meeting, invited members of Congress
to their hospitals, presented them to their local members of Congress,
or strung them up outside the town hall to create a strong visual.
Local 49 members have signed dozens of scrubs already and continue to gather more in worksites across Oregon and SW Washington. Contact your organizer for more information. Our signed scrubs will be delivered to members of Congress later this month.
