Bargaining Update: Security Officers Are on the Move!

"Securitas Officers have one less week of paid leave than Allied Universal and Gardaworld Officers - this is not fair. We need to stay united to win equal benefits for all Union Officers." - Rebecca Sanders, Securitas

Our elected bargaining team has been hard at work to help bring home a contract that we can be proud of. We have had six bargaining sessions and have won a lot of improvements. Here are just a few:

Important protections for when life events happen:

  • Another day of paid bereavement leave

  • The ability to choose the order of paid leave when taking OFLA

Ensuring that our access the use of our paid time off will be approved:

  • Denial of PTO requests will be provided in writing

A new Labor Management Committee to help address issues:

  • New Labor Management Committee to discuss and work on issues in between contract cycles

Those are just some of the victories. Our unity is working—we have made a LOT of improvements on other work rules and protections that Officers identified were important in our bargaining surveys. We will share all of these when we have reached a Tentative Agreement that we can bring forward for a vote.

We now are fighting to win our top economic priorities:

Allied Universal Vacation PTO Sick
Gardaworld Vacation PTO Sick
Securitas Vacation PTO X
  • A fair wage increase

  • Equal Paid Time Off for Securitas Officers. Right now, Allied Universal and Gardaworld officers have three banks of paid leave—Article 17: Vacation, Article 18: Paid Time Off, and Article 19: Sick Leave.

If you are a Securitas officer who has not had enough time to take off work for illness, or if you got sick and had to use time you needed for vacation, please email your story to caseyf@seiu49.org.
